It is with great pride that we announce that Janet C. Rotter and The Studio School are this year's recipients of the Anna Freud Educational Achievement Award from the American Psychoanalytic Association. The award is granted to those who exemplify the highest level of service, training, outreach, or research.
Dr. Anna Freud greatly contributed to our understanding of child development and created the field of child psychoanalysis. Her ideas have influenced Ms. Rotter's work and have been deeply integrated into Studio’s Approach for the past 47 years, nurturing the cumulative character of childhood development with an acute appreciation and understanding of mental health for children, parents, and teachers. Anna echoes one of our educational foundations, saying, “I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all the time.” The Studio School sure knows how to bring it out!
